The Regatta Committee are keen to get more trophies to present and when asking around, the Auckland Rowing Association told us “we’ve got lots of trophies which are no longer presented”.

Wow, what a find!

Terry Tidbury reviewed the cupboard full of cups and found among them the WG Mason coxless fours trophy first presented in 1914 and the Junior amateur scullers presented by John Marshall 1892. This was won in 1946 by Darcy Hadfield Who was the first New Zealander to win an Olympic Rowing medal and in 1955 by Don Rowlands after whom the Centre Building at Karapiro is named.
